This mission introduces the Indirect Combat Unit big guns: Rockets and Missiles, along with the concept of defending against the stronger Air Units.
[edit] Intel
Air Defense is the ninth mission of Advance Wars' Field Training Mode. You start with a balanced force that totals 15 Units compared to Olaf's 12, and Olaf once again has a firepower advantage.
This mission introduces long-distance Indirect Combat Units: Rockets and Missiles. You'll find both units to be devastatingly powerful in their respective roles.
[edit] Strategy
Nell doesn't have the best of news from her superiors, as you haven't been granted Fighters and Bombers while Olaf has. However you still have a chance as you have been granted a Rockets and Missiles unit to balance things out.
The two bombers are fully loaded on both Fuel and Ammunition this time, so if they aren't taken out they'll dish out a massive amount of damage. The Anti-Air can't get to them because they're across the sea. This is where the Missiles come into play; use the Missiles to attack the Bomber and you'll see how powerful Missiles are against Air Units in general.
After using the Rockets to attack the Medium Tank near Olaf's HQ the mission is up to you. Nell will be impressed with your skills if you clear within 5 days, either by HQ Capture or Rout.
An A Rank is the highest rank that can be attained during Field Training missions.
